Pentagon City Real Estate
Pentagon City, a stone’s throw from the Pentagon as well as the Fashion Center Shopping Mall featuring Macy’s, Nordstrom’s and 150 shops and restaurants as well as the adjacent Ritz Carlton Hotel, is one of Arlington’s newest and most attractive neighborhoods. Most of this development has occurred in the past twenty years and is ongoing. The neighborhood is an attractive mix of new shopping centers, high rise condos, apartments, office buildings and well manicured parks. The area has attracted a multitude of 20 and 30-somethings who often live and work in the neighborhood and take advantage of the many shops, bars, 24 hour grocery shopping, Costco and a multitude of restaurants. If they work elsewhere, the proximity of the Pentagon Metro Station as well as major roads such as Columbia Pike, Shirley Highway, Route 1 and Washington Boulevard, enhance commuting by auto whether to other destinations in Arlington, Washington, D.C. or Northern VA.
Close to the central core of the neighborhood is the expansive Virginia Highlands Park which features playgrounds, basketball and tennis courts, baseball fields and a soccer field. On the other side of the park is an older residential neighborhood featuring older single family homes, some with garages, ranging from cottages to colonials. These homes tend to range in size from 1500-4000 square feet and most often contain 3-4 bedrooms. Most of the lots are consistent with the bulk of Arlington which is to say in the 6000 square foot vicinity. The residential streets are quiet and tree lined yet with great proximity to the new urban core of the neighborhood.
